Independent Universities
Two independent universities are located in the Central Valley. They include Fresno Pacific University and the University of the Pacific. Average cost of tuition per semester for Fresno Pacific is $11,475.00 and for University of the Pacific is $15,490.00.

Fresno Pacific University is the Central Valley’s only accredited Christian university and offers students the following programs and curriculum:

Freshman entrance requirements (by subject)
- Social Science – 2 years
- English – 4 years
- Math – 3 years
- Laboratory Science – 1 years
- Foreign Languages – 2 years
- Visual and Performing Arts – 1 year
Test Requirements:
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.1 or higher
- SAT or ACT
University of the Pacific offers students the following programs and curriculum:
- Various majors and programs
- Bachelor of arts and science degrees
- Masters of arts and science degrees
- Teaching credentials
- Doctoral and professional degrees (e.g medicine, law, business, etc.)
Freshman entrance requirements (by subject)
- Social Science – 1 years
- English – 4 years

- Laboratory Science – 2 years
- Foreign Languages – 2 years
- Visual and Performing Arts – 1 year
Test Requirements:
- SAT I or ACT
- Students applying for the dental hygiene program must submit AHPAT scores
